Laxma Goud

He was born in Nizampur, Medak district in Telangana in 1940. He studied at the Government College of Art and Architecture, Hyderabad where he obtained a diploma. In 1963, he reached Baroda where he was exposed to contemporary art while learning traditional fresco techniques.

 

He had solo shows in New Delhi, Mumbai, London, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad. His works have been part of group exhibitions held in Mumbai 2012; New York 2011-12; Art Musings at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2008; Galerie 88 Kolkata, 2007; Priyasri Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2006; by Saffronart and Apparao Galleries, Los Angeles, 2001; Saffronart Hong Kong 2001, Saffronart and Pundole Art Gallery, New York, 2001, 2002; CIMA Kolkata, and NGMA, New Delhi 1993; ‘Festival of India’, Geneva, 1987; Worcester Art Museum, 1986. Goud received the Andhra Pradesh State Lalit Kala Academy awards in 1962, 1966 and 1971. Padma Shri from Government of India in 2016.
